Riocorvo is a small town around a street on the Camino Real that linked the plateau with the Cantabrian coast and where the Besaya River passes. Its stone houses stand out, most of them emblazoned. The urban area of Riocorvo was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest in the Historical Complex category in 1981 , and in 2021 it was awarded the Pueblo de Cantabria award for developing an integrative and unitary project between the royal road and the rest of the urban area.
