Casa Maria Cartagena is the result of a labor of love by its two American owners, she (María) from a Colombian family – who fell in love and got married in Cartagena. Shortly after they met, during a charming walk through the old city late at night, they knocked on the door of an old house on the street where María’s mother lived. Shortly after, they decided to buy it and in collaboration with the renowned colonial architect Javier Acevedo , they restored the house, returning it to its past colonial glory but providing it with important modern amenities (including a swimming pool).
