On a lintel of the interior door of the Casa Grande, an inscription “JACINTO ESTÉVEZ DE PUGA 1675” is engraved, which tells us the constructive evolution of the Casa Grande, located on a height as a domain of the other properties (location of mansions and big houses). Two estates appear, the one below, which is related to the Vieytez, from a noble family from Sela with a Manor house, and the one above, who were related to the Rivera and the Giraldez. A Vieytez, Ignacio Vieytez Tapia (1817-1882), magistrate, president of the Chamber of the Supreme Court and private Secretary of Queen Isabel II, acquired the properties of Almuiña de Arriba in 1869, unifying the two Almuiñas again. In the 19th century, it underwent an important renovation, such as galleries, embrasures, dome and other elements, the rest of the work or the basics corresponds to the 17th century.
